The project departs from the recognition of the limits of dominant approaches of climate change (CC), that are not considering the diversity of conceptualisations, strategies, capacities and tools to confront the problem of CC that are being developed at grassroots level in different initiatives (from green energy production cooperatives to organic food production social enterprises, for example). These initiatives may be offering new sustainable solutions and innovative technologies, embedded in particular contexts and everyday practices, to mitigate CC. These experiences can be considered as informal learning processes, that take place at individual and collective level, and where the production of new values for human development play a key role.
The project aims at developing a theoretical and methodological framework in order to approach these experiences, its technological innovations, and its contributions to CC mitigation, which can also inspire new public policies. We build our framework on the ideas of human development, ethics and informal learning, together wilt the ideas of grassroots social innovation. A short field work will also be undertaken, in order to get insights to refine the framework.
