A participatory decision making approach based on AHP and SNA. The search for alternative solutions to eliminate rice straw in The Albufera Natural Park (Spain)

In this paper, a complex environmental problem generated by a traditional agricultural activity is analyzed: the search for solutions to eliminate rice straw after the harvest. The case study is located in the wetland Natural Park La Albufera (Valencia, Spain). Different stakeholders, who want to satisfy their own interests, are involved in the search for solutions to this problem. The application of Social Network Analysis will analyze the influence among stakeholders. The Analytic Hierarchy Process is a wide-known technique based on Multicriteria Decision Analysis. These two techniques separately, are well known, but their combined effect is a contribution.
