Next March 20th, Alejandra Boni, Jordi Molas and Ismael Ràfols will hold the "Research Evaluation Workshop" at Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU), University of Sussex.


We are pleased to announce the Eu-SPRI Early Career Researcher Conference (ECC) “Science, Technology and Innovation: New challenges and practices”, a three-day PhD Day event organised by the doctoral students at INGENIO (CSIC-UPV) in Valencia. The event aims to contribute to the development of research capabilities, presentation and communication skills, as well as to build networks among a new generation of researchers (PhD students and Early Career Researchers).

The conference keynote speakers are Massimiano Bucchi (University of Trento) and Johan Schot (University of Sussex).

Dr. Adela García Aracil is invited to the Annual BSRUN Forum of 2017 “Universities as the Bridge Between the East and the West”which will be held on October 19, 2017 in Riga. She will talk about the successful experience in the implementation of the FOSTERC project in Belarus.


European specialists in communication and science policies discuss Open Science


La jornada pretende construir un diálogo entre distintas iniciativas que, desde la universidad, están tratando de generar formas de entender, visibilizar y apoyar el trabajo que distintos colectivos sociales, desde cooperativas y grupos de ayuda mutua a asociaciones vecinales están haciendo para avanzar hacia nuevos modelos de relaciones sociales, económicas, políticas y con la naturaleza.

Ismael Ràfols participated in the Workshop "Ex-ante Evaluation, Prioritization, and STI Planning" held on 4-5 July at the Universidade Estadual de Campinas-UNICAMP (Brazil).


Carolin Schmitz - Ingenio(CSIC-UPV) awarded the "Premio Hernández Morejón" for the best doctoral thesis on the History of Medicine: "Los enfermos en la España Barroca (1600-­1740) y el pluralismo médico: espacios, estrategias y actitudes".


Dr. Hebe Vessuri, a leading researcher at the Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas (CONICET), has been honored with the John D. Bernal Award from the Society for Social Studies of Science (4S), which is awarded annually to an academic that has made a fundamental contribution in the field of Science, Technology and Society, especially giving visibility to the less developed countries in this area.

INGENIO (CSIC-UPV) joins the congratulations that our colleague is receiving from all the Ibero-American countries.


Action learning in Benicalap (Valencia)

The students of the Master of Development Cooperation of the Universitat Politècnica de València are in the district of Benicalap, carrying out a participative study with different actors of the neighborhood on the quality of life and its influence in the learning of the young people and children of the neighborhood.


Sergio Belda Miquel received "PhD with distinction" award from Universitat Politècnica de València, for his thesis "Del gerencialismo a la política: explorando las características, los espacios y los procesos de construcción de una práctica transformadora del desarrollo y la cooperación", realized at INGENIO [CSIC-UPV].

This thesis, presented in 2015, in the Doctoral Program in Local Development and International Cooperation, analyzes the following aspects

David Barberá is visiting Aalto Business School in Helsinki during May 2017 to work with Eero Vaara and Itziar Castelló in their joint research about failure in entrepreneurship.


Researcher J. Félix Lozano Aguilar is conducting a stay in The Oxford Uehiro Centre for Practical Ethics, from 10th april to 12th may.

The purpose of his stay is to conduct a study: The neuroethics contribution to training responsible decision making in management practice.

This talk examines the phenomenon of predatory publishers and journals and the threats they pose to researchers, to research, and to scholarly communication. The speaker will also describe his work identifying predatory publishers, an effort that lasted from 2012 to early 2017. Selectivity in scholarly publishing is disappearing and peer review is failing. Consequently, anyone — including a promoter of pseudo-science — can augment his CV and earn academic credit, thanks to predatory publishers and predatory conference organizers.
