Last week, Bipashyee Ghosh, research Fellow at SPRU - Science Policy Research Unit, University of Sussex Business School gave a presentation about "Urban movility transitions in the Global South. A research and action agenda" for the students of the Postgraduate degrees in Innovation for Social and Environmental Transformation.
Bipashyee is a Research Fellow at SPRU - Science Policy Research Unit, University of Sussex Business School. She is working on Deep transitions and Transformative Innovation Policy Consortium projects. She graduated in 2019 with PhD thesis titled "Transformations beyond experimentation : Sustainability transitions in megacities". For her PhD, she worked with Prof. Johan Schot and Dr Saurabh Arora at SPRU. In her doctoral research, Bipashyee has studied urban mobility transformations in megacities in the Global South, particularly in India and Thailand. Using theories of sustainability transitions and socio-technical imaginaries, her work explored the ongoing transitions in urban mobility systems and visions for smart cities in response to persistent sustainability problems like social inequality and climate change. Her current work includes writing an advanced introduction book for sustainability transitions, a research agenda on Transformative Innovation Policy, developing a Mobile Transformative Innovation Lab, exploring digitalisation rules of Deep Transition, and mobilising research groups on pragmatic policy for AI (in SPRU) and transitions in Global South (globally). Bipashyee has a MSc in Innovation Sciences from Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), Netherlands. She has an undergraduate degree in Economics from Jadavpur University, India. She also served as a climate change activist - raising awareness on climate crisis and sustainability in local communities in India, working as an International Climate Champion (ICC) with British Council.
