Formación
Pablo D’Este es licenciado en Económicas por la Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona (UAB), y Master en Economía Aplicada por la UAB. Obtuvo su doctorado en SPRU - Science and Technology Policy Research (University of Sussex), con una tesis sobre la heterogeneidad a nivel empresarial en el desarrollo de capacidades tecnológicas en la industria farmacéutica española.

Experiencia investigadora y docente
Pablo D’Este ha sido profesor ayudante en Economía en la Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona entre 1992 y 1998. Trabajó como Research Fellow en SPRU entre 2002 y 2008, y obtuvo una beca Postdoctoral del Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC, UK) para el período 2004-2005. En 2006, obtuvo un contrato como Advanced Institute of Management (AIM) Research Fellow, en Cranfield School of Management, y mantuvo una doble afiliación en Cranfield School of Management y SPRU (University of Sussex) entre 2006 y 2008. Desde Julio del 2008 forma parte de la plantilla de INGENIO (CSIC-UPV) como científico titular.

La investigación de Pablo D’Este abarca los siguientes temas: dinámica industrial e innovación; capacidades tecnológicas y creación de conocimiento en las empresas; relaciones entre universidad y empresa, y el impacto de éstas sobre el desempeño académico y la innovación empresarial; emprendimiento académico; proximidad y formación de colaboraciones en investigación; fuentes y barreras a la innovación.
