The UPV, UV, CDTI and Red Innpulso sign an agreement to establish the ARRELS-CDTI Chair, which will promote innovation and local governance to advance climate resilience.

The Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), the Universitat de València (UV), the Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology and Innovation (CDTI), and the Red Innpulso Association signed a collaboration agreement this Monday to establish the ARRELS-CDTI Chair in Innovation and Local Governance for Climate Resilience.

The new Chair will be led by Jordi Peris, a researcher at INGENIO (CSIC–UPV), with the institute serving as the main centre for its research activities.

ARRELS aims to promote locally rooted innovation that helps address the challenges posed by climate change from a local perspective. The initiative is particularly relevant in the Comunitat Valenciana following the severe flooding caused by the DANA in October 2024 and seeks to strengthen the capacity of local governments to anticipate and respond to climate impacts.

To this end, the Chair will promote the co-creation of solutions with municipalities, companies, technology centres, and citizens. It will also encourage the exchange of knowledge and experiences between universities, public administrations, and other stakeholders to help build territories that are more resilient to climate change.
