ABOUT US
The Institute
INGENIO is a joint research center of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV). Since its foundation in 1999, it has become a leading international center for the study of the complex relationships between science, technology, innovation, and society.
Our core mission is to conduct high-quality, socially relevant research that advances theory and addresses societal challenges. As a transdisciplinary hub, we engage directly with social actors to turn academic knowledge into practical impact.
Research at INGENIO is organized around five focal areas:
- Sustainability Transformations
- Science, Technology, and Innovation Governance
- Collaborative Processes in Knowledge Generation and Application
- Science, Technology, and Human Capital
- The Cultural Dimensions of Science, Technology, and Innovation
INGENIO is deeply embedded in the international research community. We are key participants in global networks such as the European Forum for Studies of Policies for Research and Innovation (EU-SPRI), the Transformative Innovation Policy Consortium (TIPC), Global Network for Economics of Learning, Innovation, and Competence Building Systems (Globelics), the Geography of Innovation Conference (GeoInno), the Regional Studies Association and Workshops on Medical Innovation and Healthcare (WOMI).
Beyond academia, our mission encompasses:
- Supporting the next generation of researchers through postgraduate training
- Offering expert guidance to public and private institutions
- Developing projects that directly benefit local communities
We are based in the Ciudad Politécnica de la Innovación (CPI) at the UPV’s Vera Campus.
