Festivals are one of the most diffused examples of living production in the field of cultural and creative industries. In recent years, Festivals attracted an increased attention also because of their remarkable increase in number. While several scholars have recently investigated various music or film Festivals, the most traditional ones, very few analyses are currently available on Festivals taking place in less publicized sectors, publishing industry in particular. The aim of this article is precisely to investigate these smaller events on the basis of a cross comparison between Festivals taking place in different countries in audiovisual industries on the one hand, in comics, a specific domain of publishing industry, on the other hand. To this end, we shall consider the place, the structural organization and the impact of some selected Festivals organized in small cities in France and in Spain. A detailed analysis of the characteristics of these selected Festivals all along their various editions has the goal to verify whether we are assisting to the structuration of a multi-faced economic model, specifically linked to the characteristics of the sectors and the Festivals promoting them.
