INGENIO (CSIC-UPV) took part in the Fira dels Invents together with the organization San Juan de Dios through the stand Sueños Interrumpidos, part of a joint social innovation project also developed with the Fundación del Sueño Mónica Duart, based on their joint social innovation project that uses accessible technology to improve the well-being and sleep quality of people in vulnerable situations.

During the event, non-invasive monitoring devices were made available to attendees. These devices are used within the project to analyse sleep patterns, physical activity and stress levels among people living in residential contexts such as the streets, shelters or transitional housing.

The initiative also included a participatory activity in which attendees could observe how their heart rate changed when exposed to noisy environments and relaxing settings, with the aim of illustrating the impact that these types of stimuli have on health and rest. Visitors were also invited to anonymously share the concerns or situations that “keep them awake at night”.

The aim of the activity was to raise awareness among participants and encourage reflection on how the lack of a safe place to sleep affects both well-being and health.
