Seven PhD researchers took part in this year’s event, which introduced a new format to encourage a more in-depth exchange of ideas on their ongoing doctoral research.
INGENIO (CSIC–UPV) has held a new edition of PhD in Progress, an annual event that brings together PhD researchers at the institute to share their research and receive feedback from other members of the research community. This year, seven PhD researchers at different stages of their doctoral projects took part, from the initial stages to the analysis and discussion of results.
A space for exchange and collective learning
Each year, PhD in Progress gives INGENIO’s doctoral community the opportunity to share their progress and receive feedback on their research. This encourages the exchange of ideas on how to approach research questions, which methodologies to use, and the challenges that arise during the PhD.
The event also gives researchers at the institute the opportunity to learn about the progress of ongoing PhD projects and contribute their own perspectives. In this way, the initiative aims to foster new connections across research areas and strengthen INGENIO’s doctoral community.
This year, the event introduced a new feature: the role of the discussant. Each PhD researcher selected two senior or postdoctoral researchers and one fellow PhD researcher, who reviewed part of their work in advance and prepared specific feedback on the research.
This new format has made it possible to devote a central part of the event to a structured dialogue between the PhD researchers and their discussants, before opening the discussion to the rest of the participants. In this way, the initiative has evolved from a format focused primarily on presenting research to one that encourages more structured discussion and feedback.
