Brief Presentation Summary
In this seminar, I will introduce how design thinking and design research can support transformation processes across education, public innovation, and social impact contexts. Drawing on examples from Yaşar University Design Research Center and recent collaborative projects in İzmir, the presentation will discuss how design-led methods can help institutions, cities, and communities frame complex challenges, create shared languages, and develop participatory pathways for change. I will also reflect on emerging research directions around learning experience design, human-centered AI, and the role of design in building hopeful and regenerative futures.

Short Bio
Dr. Can Güvenir is an industrial designer, researcher, and the Director of the Design Research Center (YÜTAM) at Yaşar University, İzmir, Türkiye. His work focuses on design thinking, learning experience design, social innovation, and design-led transformation in educational, institutional, and urban contexts. He has led and contributed to interdisciplinary collaborations with universities, municipalities, NGOs, and industry partners, particularly around participatory innovation, design education, and community engagement. His current research explores how design thinking, learning analytics, and human-centered AI can support collaborative learning, creativity, and responsible innovation.
