Irene Monsonís Payá és Llicenciada en Dret, Doctora en Cooperació Internacional i Desenrotllament Local i gestora d'investigació en INGENIO, centre mixt del CSIC i la Universitat Politècnica de València.
La seua investigació se centra en les relaciones ciència i societat.
En la seua formació predoctoral va explorar l'ús de tècniques de decisió multicriteri per al monitoratge de la ciència respecte a la seua rellevància social, la participació ciutadana i la inclusió d'aspectes mediambientals. Posteriorment va participar en el projecte d'investigació europeu POIESIS sobre la confiança de la ciutadania en la ciència, explorant els processos de comunicació científica respecte al canvi climàtic i la crisi del COVID-19.
Actualment desenrotlla funcions com Gestora d'Investigació de l'institut INGENIO, acompanyant en la implementació del projecte científic i d'excel·lència del centre en el marc del programa DEEP-Max del CSIC.
La seua carrera s'ha centrat en el desenrotllament de projectes col·laboratius d'investigació europeus. Va participar en el programa Blue Book de la Comissió Europea en la Direcció General de Mercat Intern, Indústria, Emprenedoria i PIMES, i ha coordinat grups de treball en el Consorci Europeu d'Innovació per a l'Envelliment Actiu i Saludable.
